The HES Renewables Service team conducted an inspection of a [[year built]] rooftop commercial solar system built by another company. The multi-family solar system did not have monitoring of the solar system’s output, nor did the system have an O&M agreement to detect and prevent production losses. Historical production data revealed that the solar system had been dramatically underperforming for TK months without detection. The power losses had already cost the apartment complex owners approximately $130,000 in lost savings (based on an average .25/kWh cost in San Diego).
The HES Renewables team was engaged to diagnose and repair the solar components in need of repair or replacement. The repair required a [[retrofit of two new inverters]] and repairs to [[17 panel connections]]. In order to detect future production losses, a 4G-network [[Enphase]]] monitoring system was incorporated into the commercial solar system. Additionally, the property owners engaged an HES Renewables O&M agreement, which would have detected this costly downtime within 48 hours.
The property owners now have their rooftop solar system operating at its optimized production level. Their energy savings are optimized and will deliver an estimated [[$TKT,KTK]]] annually in energy bill savings. With solar monitoring retrofitted to the system and a strong O&M agreement in place, the TK-year-old system is optimized to delivery worry-free renewable energy to the property for many years to come.
