Solaire Apartment Homes: New Solar Power Meets Old Town Temecula Charm

CHALLENGE

ColRich, the owners of the Solaire Apartment Homes in Temecula, wanted to put their rooftop areas to better use. With energy costs becoming an increasing concern of residents, ColRich also wanted to find a way to use solar to create both an additional revenue stream for the property as well as provide a lower cost of living to their residents at the Old Town Temecula location.

SOLUTION

HES Renewables was engaged to find the best solar solution for the apartment building complex. The HES Renewables designers created 26 separate energy systems that would power a single building each. The solar systems would then distribute green energy throughout the various units of each building upon which they operated.

CUSTOMER BENEFIT

The collection of independent solar systems combine to make up a 388.8-kilowatt renewable energy system. The electricity produced offsets all of the energy used by the community’s common areas as well as offsets 90% of the energy needs of the residents. 

Adding to the satisfaction of running their homes on clean, renewable energy, the residents also receive a 10% to 15% discount on the cost of their electricity when using power generated on-site from their rooftop system. This benefit helps attract new residents when apartments become available and also helps create a positive community camaraderie that naturally retains existing tenants.
