The building owners of Sea Lion Commerce Center in Carlsbad were looking for ways to increase Net Operating Income for the office building and provide tenants with the ability to power their business with renewable energy. The property owner, H.G. Fenton, knew of the great financial benefits of solar systems from previous solar projects.
HES Renewables was contracted to evaluate the building and the current tenants’ energy usage. A 295.7 kilowatt system of Maxeon-produced commercial solar panels was specified to offset 105% of the tenants’ utility energy use. With such strong energy cost savings to protect, the building owners initiated a pilot program with HES Renewables for an extended solar warranty through Omnidian.
With the San Diego sunshine powering the commercial rooftop solar array, the solar system is estimated to surpass 2.8 million dollars in Net Operating Income over the first 25 years of solar energy production. After only one year, the financial benefits of solar for commercial buildings increases this property’s market value by approximately 1.4 million dollars. The Maxeon-produced solar panels ensure reliability and strong performance over the next decades, and the Omnidian extended warranty brings an additional layer of asset protection and peace of mind.
