Building-owner H.G. Fenton owned this building next door to the H.G. Fenton headquarters. With a strong rooftop solar and carport solar system powering the home office, the real estate company wanted to ensure the property in such close proximity also took advantage of the benefits of solar and the revenue generation it can bring to California office buildings.
HES Renewables, in its long-standing partnership with H.G. Fenton, designed and installed a 139 kilowatt rooftop solar system that will generate an estimated 229.2 kilowatt hours of electricity annually. Ivy Energy’s billing sharing software was incorporated to benefit both the building owner and the tenant.
The commercial rooftop solar array now powers the building with clean, green, renewable energy. The location has become another H.G. Fenton property that contributes to the corporation’s green initiatives. Through the unique Ivy Energy billing software, the building’s tenants are able to receive a built-in 10% electricity discount compared to the current utility rate while operating on the solar-produced electricity. The building owners benefit directly via an additional revenue stream that will deliver an estimated Net Operating Income of $1.8 million over the first 25 years of the solar system’s operation.
