The commercial real estate owners of the large El Cajon building that houses the County of San Diego Health & Human Services Agency were looking for a way to lower and stabilize energy costs for the location.
The HES Renewables team designed and installed a 250 kilowatt commercial rooftop solar system that will generate solar energy to not only reduce long term energy costs but also allow the heath services office to operate with 98% of its electricity consumption using clean, renewable energy.
In addition to the strong, long-term energy cost savings, the project benefited greatly, and quickly, from the federal and state solar incentives, including the federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC), the State Modified Accelerated Cost-Recovery System (MACRS) program, and the federal 100% bonus depreciation incentive.
The high quality solar system is expected to produce energy for decades, and the estimated 30-year electric bill savings are targeted at a total savings of well over four million dollars.
