WHAT IS A SOLAR BATTERY?

Solar batteries (or battery storage systems) are an effective and efficient way of storing energy. When paired with a solar panel system, solar batteries store excess energy created by your panels during the day. The systems will communicate with each other throughout the day—when the sun is out, your solar battery will charge as your panels power your home and appliances.

Then, at night or during an outage, your solar battery will become the main power source for your home. Certain brands of batteries can detect an outage and can automatically divert power during a blackout to keep your lights on and essential systems operating.

ARE SOLAR BATTERIES WORTH IT?

HOW MUCH DOES A SOLAR BATTERY COST?

This can vary depending on your needs, but there are many rebates available for residential customers through the Federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC). The Self-Generated Incentive Program (SGIP) offers rebates to critical facilities and low-income, at-risk, or vulnerable customers. Over half the SGIP budget has been set aside for equity resiliency purposes to help affected groups fully or nearly fully subsidize the installation of a storage system.
